Tiramisu Martini

Tiramisu Martini Cocktail Recipe

This cocktail has the primary coffee flavor of traditional tiramisu. The half and half cream in this drink takes over for the mascarpone cheese from the dessert. Add chocolate shavings on top or chocolate syrup in the glass or on the rim. That adds the chocolate notes from the classic dessert. My favorite part is the vanilla simple syrup using honey instead of sugar. It adds such a rich flavor to the drink.

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Martini glasses
  • Small grater / zester

Ingredients

For the Tiramisu Martini:

  • 2 ounces coffee liqueur like kahlua
  • 1.5 ounces half n half cream
  • 1 ounce vanilla vodka
  • 1 tsp vanilla simple syrup see below
  • Dark chocolate and/or white chocolate shavings or a dash of cocoa for the top

For the Vanilla Syrup:

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Chill the martini glasses in the freezer for about 20 minutes.
  • While the glasses are chilling, prepare the vanilla syrup.
  • Combine 1/2 cup honey with 1/2 cup of water in a small saucepan. Add 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and bring to a simmer. Simmer on low for approximately 5 minutes until the natural sugars in the honey are fully combined with the water and vanilla.
  • Allow the vanilla simple syrup to cool.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the kahlua, vanilla vodka, half and half cream and the homemade vanilla simple syrup in the correct proporations as noted. Add ice and shake like crazy.
  • Remove the martini glass from the freezer and prepare the glass by rimming it. Using a shallow plate, rim the martini cocktail glasses with fine sugar or chocolate sauce. If using sugar, wet the edge of the glass with a wet paper towel and then roll it in the fine sugar on the plate. If using chocolate syrup, simply put some chocolate on a shallow plate and roll the glass around the chocolate sauce.
  • Pour the cocktail into the chilled martini glass.
  • I like to finish my martini with some white chocolate and dark chocolate shavings on the top using a small grater.
